The Social Change Model of Leadership Development

Within the Office of Residence Life,

we teach 7 values across these three leadership perspectives:

From the Individual perspective, we teach:

•  Consciousness of Self - knowing your values and perspectives.

•  Congruence - matching your actions with your words

•  Commitment - standing up for what you believe in and action on your beliefs.

From the Group perspective, we teach:

•  Collaboration - each person doing their own individual part to build a successful group.

•  Common Purpose - everyone in-group is on the same page and striving towards a collective goal.

•  Controversy with Civility - when disagreements occur, they are worked through with respect for everyone.

From the Community perspective, they teach:

•  Citizenship - the individual and the group feel collectively responsible for the good of the community and society as a whole.
